Livin’ Bedworth Style

Just arrived in the UK. A little tired, but cheery in general :) Can’t wait to get started at work; must sleep.

German, German, and the Kikuyu.

Gute Nacht! (?) Ok, so my German isn’t that great yet. The good news is that I finally got my German Teach Yourself language set off Amazon there a couple weeks ago. “Wie wowhen sie? Ich komme aus Berlin.” Even that wasn’t spelled right, but you get the point. I’m loving this book, it’s super easy to follow along.

Also with this book I”m still reading, The Flame Trees of Thika, I love this excerpt where the young girl talks about the Kikuyu tribesman hesitation to build a square house. Pick up this book – you’ll love it should you be entertained by written memoirs and the like

TESOL Resources

For all of you TESOL teachers who may come across my blog, here’s a great ESL/TESOL resource site that I found during my Foundation TESOL Course with my respective college. It’s called ESL HQ. It’s a site where you can form up lesson plans, make worksheets, etc.

Update on that Facebook Badge

Well, I don’t know about you, but I don’t go to my Facebook page when I click on this badge. Has anyone else made one? Comment on this post if you have, and know how to get it to work on a WP blog.

Cheers.

Facebook Badges

Apparently, on Facebook now, one can create a ‘badge’ of sorts to link their website to their Facebook page (or something like that). I made one today – let’s see if this works…

My Own Spanish Inquisition

Though this ‘inquisition’ has nothing to do with an ecclesiastical court, I’m finding that my foray into the Spanish language certainly has it’s own level of ‘intensity’. There’s always something more to learn, and as I learn one thing, there’s always a great corollary grammar point to follow. Yet, for today’s post, just a little dialogue between ‘Alonso’ and ‘Empleada’ regarding some currency exchange…

Alsonso:   Buenas días. Quisiera cambiar doscientos cincuenta dólares a euros. ¿A cuánto está el cambio? Tengo cheques de viaje.

Empleada: Está a un euro con diez céntimos. ¿Me da su pasaporte, por favor?

Alonso:  Aquí tiene.

Empleada:  Bien. Puede firmarlos. ¿Qué dirección tiene aquí en Madrid?

Alonso: Calle Salvador Nº 26, 2º, 4a.

Cheers folks.

Welcome

Hey, if you’re reading this, welcome. I decided to create a personal, non-professional blog just for some writing, as well as to comment on things I’m reading, listening to, and thinking about. I hope you enjoy what you experience here.
